Denby Dale Passivhaus

Green Building Company, the construction arm of pro clima stockists, Green Building Store – has just completed the first certified Passivhaus in the UK to be built using traditional British cavity wall construction. Built in West Yorkshire, the project is a 3 bed (118m²) detached house commissioned by private clients. Green Building Company chose cavity wall as they wanted to build a Passivhaus using British construction techniques and to help comply with West Yorkshire planning requirements . With wet plaster forming the airtight seal on the interior walls, pro clima airtight products were used around window and door openings and junctions between floors, walls and roofs: their attention to detail paid off with a fantastic result of 0.33ach@50Pa. They have proved that building to Passivhaus needn’t be expensive or difficult, with basic build costs at around £141k and an anticipated heating cost of less than £75 per annum.
