Calsitherm Training Day

Ecological Building Systems recently held a training day in Athboy for Calsitherm Climate Board.

We were fortunate to be joined by Tobias Wild-Blatt from the manufacturers of Calsitherm who are based in Paderborn. The day started at the Darnley Hotel, where we were joined by architects, installers and conservation organisations to run through the theory of Calsitherm.

Tobias showed numerous historic and new build projects where the boards had been used, which included a research project from the EU where various buildings were equipped with the climate board and sensors measured the temperature and condensation levels in the climate board for 5 years, the results showed significant energy savings within the difficult to insulation historic buildings and how the board absorbs water vapour so successfully through its capillary action preventing any degredation or mould growth.

Everyone then moved on to the Ecological offices in Athboy to carry out some practical installation. Tobias showed how easy it is to fix the boards to a surface using the Calsitherm adhesive mortar, and then finishing the board with a lime plaster. Everyone agreed that the day was very informative.
