Ecological Building Systems Ireland's only One-Stop-Shop for Sustainable Building Products & Systems were delighted when they won Best New Sustainable Building Product at the Sustainable Building Show, held in September, in the RDS, Dublin. Winning the award for Thermo-Hemp, the 100% Natural Insulation made from Hemp, the world's oldest cultivated plant, Tom Barbour, Managing Director was not only delighted with the award itself but also with the significant interest & uptake of the product, considering it is such a new addition to the wide variety of sustainable building products within Ecological Building Systems portfolio.
'It's a double reward' says Barbour, 'as it would seem that the concerted effort & significant investment we have made in the education & development of the sustainable building industry over 5 years now, is finally beginning to make some impact. Notably, there is a significant change taking place, as people's awareness grows regarding the importance of building sustainably. The impending directive, although delayed, still means that anyone building or renovating needs to take serious consideration of how they intend to conserve energy in their homes, as the ability to conserve energy will be legally, inextricably linked to the value of the house itself. And then of course there is climate change which since the St. Stephens day catastrophe & the more recent New Orleans disaster, has sadly put global warming & the responsibility for it, on the agenda of each & every one of us'.
