Sherpa Timber Connectors
The Sherpa connectors are manufactured from cast aluminium and are ideally suited for timber to timber connections; however, they may also be utilized in timber to masonry connections. The Sherpa connectors offer a complete solution for the off site construction of timber frame closed panel constructions or any timber based structures.
Because the Sherpa connector incorporates a unique dovetail design this allows the connectors to self centre and tighten when connected. The Sherpa connectors are supplied with a specially engineered screw which minimises the shear force exerted onto the connection area. The screws are also designed to penetrate the connection area at oblique angles which increases the extraction resistance of the connection to extremely high levels.
Current solutions to supporting timber beams involve the use of standard joist hangers which technically are inferior to the Sherpa connectors in terms of their load bearing capacity, are more time consuming at the time of fixing, and also spoil the appearance of a timber beam. This is especially evident in areas where timber beams are exposed. Sherpa connectors offer a vast range of connection solutions, which are ideal for areas demanding a connector with an extremely high load bearing capacity, while not affecting the aesthetics of outstanding timber beam structures.
The Sherpa connectors are subjected to a thorough testing of materials and load bearing capacity carried out by the testing and monitoring office in Holzforschung Austria and the Koppelhuber Engineering Dept.
