Where to use it:

Auro Satin Paint 260 is a modern satin finish for use on interior wood and metal. Unlike most conventional paints this does not contain any harmful ingredients or plastics and does not release any harmful compounds into the home once applied. Commonly used on doors, architraves, skirting, wooden ceilings, furniture and children’s cots, it is hard wearing, long lasting and an excellent choice for your home. It is a vegan friendly product and is fully wipeable. It is available in 375ml, 750ml and 2.5 Litre tins.

What it does:

The Auro Satin Paint 260 provides a colour and protection to your interior timber while allowing the surface to breathe. It is safe and easy to use and provides a washable surface, cleaning is best done either by using water alone or by adding some Auro Paint and Stain Cleaner 435 to the water.

How it works:

After painting allow to dry for at least 24 hours before adding the next coat. The drying process is initiated by oxygen uptake (oxidation) so it is vital that there is sufficient ventilation during the drying period. Avoid exposure to dirt and moisture while drying. One of the main ingredients is linseed oil. The warm lustre, the elasticity, the penetration capability and the moisture-regulating features make this sustainable plant raw material an excellent binder in the satin paint

Why we love it:

Produces an excellent finish and very easy to use, we love the range of colours you can make, and we especially love that it is child safe and suitable for use on cots.

This product is a vegan friendly paint with fully natural ingredients.

Hints and Tips:

You may find if the brush is left down for a while the bristles can become somewhat stuck together, this is because of the linseed oil. As you start to re-apply the linseed should warm up on the bristles and should start to flow nicely again.

To look after your paint brushes, rub some plant soap on the bristles before putting them away then rinse with water before using them again

Installation Guide

How to install:

Most bare timber can be painted by firstly priming with the Auro hard primer 127 and then followed by at least 2 coats of the satin paint. We recommend a very light sanding in between coats using 220 grit sand paper. Alternatively, priming can be done by thinning the first coat of paint with 10% water instead of using the Hard Primer 127. The following coats should then be applied un-thinned.

Some woods contain active substances which can leave staining, tanning or lead to drying delays. (oak, chestnut, larch, red cedar, meranti are some examples) for these types of wood it is recommended that the Auro Special Primer 117 is used as a primer coat. If in doubt about what your wood is, this primer can be used on all wood.

The Auro Satin Paint 260 can also be used on metal but only after priming with the Auro Rust protection primer 234.

It is very easy to apply by brush, roller or by spraying. We recommend leaving 24 hours in between coats. Generally 2 – 3  coats are desired. If painting over a previously painted surface, a light sanding would be desired, and it is good practice to test a small area before undertaking any large job for compatibility.

Tools should be cleaned with water and Auro Plant Soap 411. Orange oil can be used if necessary.
