Brick, stone, clinker, cotto, unglazed clay tiles

Overview

A breathable oil for use on absorptive surfaces such as unglazed clay tiles, brick, and stone for interior or exterior use. Protects the surfaces from dirt, water and grime and has a highlighting effect. It is made from natural ingredients from renewable and mineral sources. The solvents used in this product are all naturally occurring as declared.

Where to Use it:

Auro Brick Oil 114 is a fully breathable oil made from natural ingredients. The Auro 114 oil is a hard wearing, transparent (Highlights the surface - Test application recommended) oil. It can be used internally or externally on brick, stone, clinker, cotto, unglazed clay tiles. It is excellent for the treatment and protection of these surfaces. This oil is available in 2 different size cans - 750ml and 2.5 Litres. It covers up to 20sq/m per litre.

What it does:

The Auro Brick Oil 114 provides protection to your surface or can be used as a primer for very absorbent surfaces for follow up treatments with other Auro Oil or Wax products. The oil fills the pores of the surface and once these are fully saturated it protects the surface from dirt, water, grease etc… while allowing the surface to breathe.

How it Works:

The brick oil should be applied thinly which will then soak into the surface and fill the pores. Any excess which is not absorbed should be removed within 30 minutes of application. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours. The drying process is initiated by oxygen uptake (oxidation) so it is vital that there is sufficient ventilation during the drying period. Avoid exposure to dirt and moisture while drying.

Why we love it:

Easy to use and great coverage. It allows the surface to breathe thus creating an excellent indoor living environment and does not trap any moisture.

This product is vegan friendly

Hints and Tips:

Use a spatula when removing any excess that has not been absorbed – the excess oil can be put back into the tin for future use so there is no waste.

Safety first: There is a danger of spontaneous ignition of drying oils. Do not crumble used cleaning cloths and the like. Spread them out for drying or store them in an air-tight closed metal container.

Installation Guide

Surfaces must be solid, dry, absorptive, clean, stable and chemically neutral. The substrate should be cleaned, and all dust removed. The Auro Brick Oil 114 can be diluted up to 30% with Auro Orange Oil 191, this is particularly important to do if surfaces are poor absorptive substrates. The oil can be applied with a brush or roller and it is important that all the oil penetrates the surface and does not sit on top of the surface and form a film. Any excess oil that is not being absorbed by the surface should be removed no later than 30 minutes after application by using a lint free cloth.

If the surface is very absorptive it will be necessary to repeat the treatment after 24 hours. The goal is to fill all the open pores with oil so that the substrate is fully saturated.

The Auro Hard Wax 171 can be applied as a finish coat if desired or it can be left with just the Brick Oil 114.

Key Times:

Up to 30 minutes after application – remove any oil which was not absorbed

10 hours after application – Dust dry

24 hours after application – recoatable

3 – 5 days after application – full hardness

It is important to treat carefully during the drying period – avoid exposure to humidity, dirt and liquids.

Tools can be cleaned using Auro Orange Oil 191 and then rinsed with Auro Plant Soap 411 and water.
