Product Overview

Main Purpose

Transparent self-adhesive breather membrane to quickly and easily provide a wind, water and weathertight seal on buildings. Allows markings, connectors and penetrations on the surface underneath the membrane to remain visible.

Can be used on

Walls, roofs and intermediate floors that are made from timber (CLT), wood-based boards/panels, block work, brick, cement and concrete.

Overview

Solitex Adhero Visto is a transparent self-adhesive, vapour permeable external breather membrane for use on masonry and timber structures. It can be quickly applied to immediately provide a see-through wind and weathertight seal on buildings. Once applied, a costly construction tent is not required to protect the building from the elements during construction.

Where to use it

Solitex Adhero Visto can be used on External walls, roofs and intermediate floors that are made from CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), wood-based boards, block work, brick, cement and concrete.

What it does

It provides a temporary wind, water and weathertight transparent protection layer for intermediate floors, walls and roofs. Primarily on multi-storey CLT or wooden frame buildings during the construction period.

Why we love it

Being transparent, it makes preparation work easier as markings, connectors and penetrations on the surfaces underneath the membrane remain visible.  With its self-adhesive pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive, large areas of wall can be sealed for weather tightness quickly and effectively.

Installation is easy thanks to its split release film; the release film on the self-adhesive backing can be revealed in stages so a puncture free installation, can be quickly achieved without the use of tape or staples.

Solitex Adhero Visto can also streamline the sequencing of airtight work. It can quickly make a brick/block wall airtight so other work can continue without having to wait for plastering and its drying times.

Features

  • Versatile transparent membrane
  • Quick installation with less tape needed
  • Quickly achieves extremely high level of water resistance
  • Highly resistant to foot traffic

Benefits

  • Preparation work is made easier as markings, connectors and penetrations on floors and walls remain visible through the transparent membrane.
  • Anti-slip surface; even in wet conditions
  • The self-adhesive backing allows the membrane to be quickly applied to large surface areas to instantly create a wind and watertight seal.
  • Taping of overlaps is not required so the cost and complexity of installation is reduced.
  • As a lightweight yet highly tear resistant peel and stick membrane, Solitex Adhero Visto takes foot traffic with minimum wear and tear.
  • Temporarily protects walls, roofs and intermediate floors against the weather during construction without needing a protective tent over the building.
  • With a water column resistance of +10m it is ideal for use on areas of harsh weather exposure.
  • There is no need to secure the membrane with staples. This increases the wind and weathertightness of the overall installation and eliminates any risk of leakage at staple penetrations.

Installation Guide

Find an installer

Ensure the area is clean and free from dirt and grease.  For unstable substrates or surfaces that readily create dust or de-laminate, or when used over wood fibre insulation boards, apply Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer airtight primer before applying the membrane. Adhesion tests are recommended when unsure.

The top of the membrane should be applied first to allow the membrane to be positioned more easily.  Roll out the membrane (printed side facing up) removing the upper 250mm release strip in sections as you go. Use a Pro Clima PressFix XL tool to firmly press the Adhero to the surface as it is applied.  This ensures the solid adhesive is fully activated and a permanent bond is achieved. There should be no creases or bubbles trapped underneath.

Once the top section has been securely stuck to the wall, the bottom wider release strip (1250mm wide) can be removed a bit at a time and adhered to the wall using a Pressfix XL tool.  Take care not to trap bubbles or make creases in the membrane.

Overlaps of at least 150mm are recommended on vertical and horizontal joints. There is a printed guide on the top surface of the membrane to help the installer visualise and line-up each length.

Follow the printed guide on the membrane and cut to the required length.

When membrane is cut from the roll and then rolled up again, make sure you roll it with the release strips on the outside; this makes application easier as the adhesive side will then face the substrate as it unrolls.

Hints & Tips

When used on pre-fabricated timber frame, CLT and mass concrete building elements, Pro Clima Tescon Vana can be used to tape the joints once the elements are assembled on the construction site.

Any bubbles that are created during application of the membrane can be punctured with a blade then patched with additional Solitex Adhero or Tescon Vana airtight tape to restore the wind and water tightness.

Punctures, scuffs or other damage to the membrane can be repaired with a patch of fresh Solitex Adhero Visto applied over the top of the puncture. The patch must be at least 150mm bigger than the damaged area on all sides. I.e. if you have a hole 20x50mm wide, you will need a patch of at least 170 x 200mm in size.
