Where to use it
Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z can be fixed to the outer side of timber frame or steel frame walls where there is a fully vented cavity externally. These boards derived from wood combine high racking strength and durability under service class 1 and 2 conditions. Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z may also be fixed on the cold exterior side of modern off-site modular timber frame cassette floor, wall or roof panel construction before secondary insulations, weather barriers or rear ventilated rainscreen facades are installed.
What it does
Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z is a low-density, medium-thickness fibreboard with a low water vapour resistance factor that provides structural rigidity to framed construction. Unlike many similar boards such as conventional OSB, Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z is more vapour open (breathable) than many types of structural sheathing materials currently available in the construction industry ensuring compatibility when used in conjunction with fibrous or natural insulation materials to optimise drying to the exterior and to ensure vapour is not trapped within framed construction elements.
Why we love it
Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z, for structural applications provides stability to frame or modular insulated panel construction and also enhanced weather protection for structures even in wet environments. It must be protected with a suitable breathable membrane such as Pro Clima Solitex Fronta WA. It has a compact, flat, perfectly calibrated surface and high dimensional stability for consistent and predictable applications. Tech refers to Finsa`s technical wood range all of which are made from rapidly renewable and recycled timber species backed up by many 3rd party certifications such as Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Declare Product Transparency and forest certifications such as PEFC. Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z also meets the requirements of many international sustainable building certifications such as the Living Building Challenge, the WELL Building Institute, BREEAM and LEED.
How it works
Unlike many similar boards such as conventional OSB Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z is more vapour open (breathable) than many types of structural sheathing materials currently available in the construction industry ensuring compatibility when used in conjunction with fibrous or natural insulation materials to ensure vapour is not trapped within framed construction elements.
How to Install
The wood fibres are bonded with adhesives to form a board with a smooth, flat, and very consistent surface, and a homogeneous interior that allows machining similar to solid wood. The boards are safe to handle, but similar to any wood based product, PPE should be worn when cutting and handling the boards. Dust generated in cutting, sanding, milling, fastening and other processes must be extracted from the working environment with the usual procedures in the wood industry for example vacuum systems. Boards may be nailed to timber structures, screwed, or even sandwiched between construction frames and secondary insulation layers such as woodfibre insulation.
Hints and Tips
For additional building protection install a Vapour permeable monolithic wall breather membrane onto external sheathing such as Fibrapan Tech RWH E-Z. Adding a further protective weather barrier will enhance a construction particularly during the construction phase ensuring the structure stays dry and can be fully windtight. The addition of a breather membrane such as Solitex Fronta WA will not impact breathability when applied to a breathable sheathing board and the construction retains a high capacity to dry out in the event of water penetration.
